THE FINAL COMMUNITY SERVISE SRLF-REFLECTION

THE FINAL COMMUNITY SERVISE SRLF-REFLECTION

1-    ZHO: zayed higher organization , one of the important place in United Arab Emirates . This institution its about caring for disabled people. And how to teach them with a special way to help these people to be something in the future.

2-     It was wonderful for me to Communion with this group of people, I spent wonderful moments with them inside and outside the organization. However, Playing basketball was one of the best moments I spent it there. But the best part of the volunteering it was when we change the workshop and met a new student and a new instructor and learn new things of the different workshop. There are many and many wonderful time with these people, like when I see some of them outside the organization and he come to hug me , after that his father come and thanks me for my Gentle treatment with his son, its really a wonderful story a will never forget it.

3-    When I went to this organization I was don’t know any things about it , just what I want is helping  my community in any way, I chose this institution after discussing it with my friends, and I think we chose the right place. Because in this organization we help people who have a disabilities to be active member on this community. Which is teach them with active way and give them what they need to learn more about the life. Of course we have tried to integrate them into society to not feel like they're different or there are some  barrier between us.
4-    I learned a lot of things in this volunteering time , the most important things I learned is how can i contact with these people , and how can i teach them with easier way. I also learned that these people are able to do things creative and making things humiliating and they have the potential of Scalable. I'll take with me a lot of beautiful memories will never forget.
5-    Finally , I want to thank my teacher because he is advised me to go to this institution that teach me a lot of things, and my friends who helped me to overcome some difficulties, Of course I want to visit this institution again and I advise you to go and visit it soon.

Time: 8:00am – 12:00pm

In the first week of volunteerism in Zayed Higher Organization, I came at 7:50 AM and I waited until all group members arrive.  At 8:30 AM when khalisa arrived we met two female supervisors t to give us tours for the workshops. After being separated for two groups , me and saleh we chose Carpentry workshop from the three other workshops.

1- The first workshop is electricity workshop:

2-      The second workshop is metalwork:

3-      The third workshop is printing :

4-      The last workshop in Zayed Higher Organization is carpentry workshop. In this workshop workers made geometric forms and furniture:

Today it was good we had fun with students with disabilities , also we learned a lot of stuff such as cutting the wood and clean it to do some professional forms and shapes. Also we were able to find out way to communicate with this group. And we had to talk with some of the students with disabilities to see their works performed by. They have good talent and the disability does not prevent or stopping you of doing whats do you like.

And this is one of wonderful student work :

it's look like a 3D picture, they made it by a normal wood with a glue only ( something great ) ^_^

What are the needs of the participants?  Specific needs both Mental AND Physical

To be successful in this project; you must have the drive to do it willingly; we must attend every session we have without being late or leaving early. Help and interact with the participants so he could enjoy him self and learning from this opportunity and recoding what happens each day.
To satisfy the needs of the participant; first we must Speak normally and directly to them. Not speaking to someone who is with them. The participants often have their own ways of doing things. So “Ask before you help”. We shouldn’t refer to the disability, and never use phrases like “handicapped”. Being patient and making sure we understand their needs. Don't touch any assistive devices, including wheelchairs, unnecessarily unless it's an emergency.
7.    What are the specific Benefits for the participants? (Both volunteers and recipients)
This project will help us as HCT students to improve our communicating and social skills, how to deal with people with different problems of all ages and will change our prospective of life so we can appreciate what we have.
At the end both of us should have made new friends, getting to interact with people with different backgrounds and learned from each other and from this opportunity.
8.   Any potential problems you see arising?

Every program has small problems while starting and facing these issues is a must, we may face problems with communication and trust; what do they want and how can we help them or satisfy them according to their need, after introducing our self to them a talk to each other and letting them know that we are here for them. There for it’s a mater of time to get use to each other.

You should aim to cover the following points, at least.
1.              What are the aims of the project
The aim of the project is to make a sport program that concentrates on children to help them and bring them all together to have fun and the country we chose is Egypt.
2.              Who are the target audience, and why?
Mostly children, boys and girls, with some young teenagers but we don’t mix the children with the teenagers.
3.              What activities would your project involve?
Make up sport clubs in football, basketball, volleyball, cycling and more. Every 6-7 months we will make a sport day maybe include GYM sessions.
4.              Who would be volunteering? Why?
Students who couldn’t get in to college and are looking to volunteer, and any one who wants to volunteer in the summer and winter time for community service hours or for some money.
5.              What are the benefits your project could bring to the target audience?
We can help children, who are talented to join professional clubs, and to get the children to be more involved in activities out of school. Plus there are other educational benefits especially in social interaction with people and learning how sport can bring people together and it’s good for the body.
6.              How would you look into launching your project with reference to the relevant authorities in the UAE and in the country you have targeted?
Through Sport clubs, Schools, Embassies, and though the authorities who are communicating with programs like ours; in our country or in any other county and in our case it’s Egypt.
7.              What problems do you think you might come across and how would you try to get around them?

We might face problems with money, or places to host and the low numbers on volunteers. We can solve these problems with the help of the government that gives bug support or spreading brochures and going to schools and to the newspapers.
